Hewitt entered the week ranked No. 612, although his qualifying run and upset have already pushed him more than 250 places higher in the live rankings.
The teenager has earned his opportunity after also reaching the Wimbledon boys’ singles final earlier this month, but Thursday presents a completely different standard. De Minaur is one of the tour’s quickest players, rarely gives away cheap points and owns a return game capable of forcing Hewitt into longer exchanges than he faced against Giron.
