Auger-Aliassime is a -222 favorite against Tiafoe +179 in Wednesday night's Cincinnati round-of-16 matchup. Rather than laying more than two dollars on the moneyline, the preferred angle is Auger-Aliassime to win the first set and the match at -130.
The Canadian has been excellent through two matches after entering Cincinnati with some uncertainty following time away from competition. He beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-5 and followed it with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo, taking control immediately after securing a tight opening set.

Tiafoe has also won both of his matches, opening with a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 victory over Lorenzo Sonego before surviving Learner Tien 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 Tuesday night. That match lasted two hours and nine minutes and required Tiafoe to remain sharp deep into the deciding set.
These players already produced a memorable match this summer. Auger-Aliassime entered their Halle quarterfinal with a 3-0 career head-to-head advantage and won the opening set 6-3, but Tiafoe saved three match points before rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(12) victory. It remains Tiafoe's only win in four meetings with Auger-Aliassime.
That result actually strengthens the case for Auger-Aliassime's preferred market more than it hurts it. He was the better player early in Halle, had three opportunities to close the match and has generally dictated this matchup on hard courts, including previous wins at the US Open and Paris Masters.
Tiafoe is dangerous when he builds momentum in front of an American crowd, but Auger-Aliassime has been the cleaner player in Cincinnati. His serve and forehand have allowed him to establish control early in both matches, while Tiafoe had to expend considerably more energy Tuesday night against Tien.
