4 Minute ReadTaylor Fritz vs. Christopher O'Connell Prediction: Will Fritz Have Any Troubles as Massive Favorite in Round of 16 Today?
Fritz is an enormous -1240 favorite against O'Connell +720 in the Cincinnati Open round of 16. With the moneyline completely unusable, the preferred market is Under 21.5 total games at -130, essentially betting on Fritz avoiding a long set or a three-set match.
Fritz has been remarkably efficient through two rounds. He beat Alex Michelsen 6-3, 6-4 in his opener and then defeated Daniel Merida by the exact same 6-3, 6-4 score Tuesday. He has yet to drop serve often enough for either opponent to seriously threaten a deciding set.

Taylor Fritz vs. Christopher O'Connell Prediction
Those wins extended Fritz's winning streak on American soil to seven matches after he captured the Washington title earlier this month. He has now reached the Cincinnati round of 16 in four of the past five years, and the combination of quick courts, a major first serve and aggressive first-ball offense continues to suit him extremely well.
O'Connell has put together an excellent run from qualifying. He beat Aleksandr Shevchenko 6-4, 6-1 to reach the main draw, then advanced past Casper Ruud after leading 7-5, 1-2 when Ruud retired. His scheduled third-round opponent Joao Fonseca then withdrew because of an abdominal issue, sending O'Connell through without having to play Tuesday.
That rest is the main concern for the under. O'Connell should be physically fresh, but he is also making a massive jump in opponent quality after receiving a walkover and facing an injured Ruud in his previous completed match. Fritz arrives in considerably better competitive rhythm and has been closing matches before opponents can drag him into long sets.
The 21.5 number does leave limited room for a tiebreak. A 7-6, 6-3 result already reaches 22 games, so the preferred script requires Fritz to find a break in both sets rather than simply relying on his serve. His first two Cincinnati scores, both totaling 19 games, show that he has been doing exactly that.

Backing Fritz 2-0 would also be logical, but the game under adds value if his superiority produces something like 6-3, 6-3 or 6-4, 6-3. With Fritz in outstanding American hard-court form and O'Connell stepping into a dramatically tougher matchup, another short straight-set match is the strongest angle.
