Mensik is a -208 favorite against Tirante +168 in the Cincinnati Open round of 16 on outdoor hard courts, with Tennis Channel carrying Wednesday's tournament coverage. The moneyline is expensive enough to look elsewhere, and Mensik to win 2-0 sets at +125 provides a much stronger price.
Tirante deserves considerably more respect than a typical player at this price. He stunned Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the second round, taking advantage as Djokovic struggled physically in Cincinnati's heat and humidity, then followed it by beating Martin Landaluce 7-6(5), 7-6(4).

That Djokovic upset was not Tirante's first major hard-court result this month. He also beat Taylor Fritz during the Montreal Masters before Learner Tien stopped him 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16. The Argentine is playing well above what his ranking would normally suggest, but he is now facing another opponent whose serve and first-strike game fit these conditions extremely well.
Mensik needed three sets to get through Mattia Bellucci, winning 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(5), but his third-round performance was much cleaner. He defeated Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 6-4 and enters Wednesday with 21 hard-court victories this season, the most on the ATP Tour.
The Czech also produced a strong Montreal run immediately before Cincinnati, including straight-set victories over Terence Atmane and Botic van de Zandschulp. His combination of serve pace, aggressive returning and willingness to shorten rallies should make it more difficult for Tirante to repeat the long, grinding patterns that helped him survive Djokovic.
Tirante has played well enough to make laying -208 unattractive, but the straight-sets market flips the value completely. Mensik has already settled into the tournament after his early scare, and Tirante's biggest Cincinnati victory came against an opponent who was visibly struggling physically.

The path to +125 is simply Mensik playing at his normal hard-court level for two sets. Tirante's recent results make this less comfortable than the moneyline suggests, but Mensik has the bigger serve, stronger hard-court résumé and considerably higher ceiling when both are playing well.
