Arthur Gea vs Nishesh Basavareddy Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest US Open Qualifiers Odds - Thursday, August 27th

Nishesh Basavareddy faces top qualifying seed Arthur Géa on Thursday, August 27 with a spot in the US Open main draw at stake. Géa enters as one of the hottest young players in tennis, but Basavareddy has survived two rounds in New York and now gets the opportunity to complete the run in front of the American crowd.

Arthur Gea vs Nishesh Basavareddy Prediction: Can Basavareddy Continue Streak, Qualify for Main Draw at US Open?

Géa and Basavareddy are scheduled for a 12:30 PM ET start on Court 12 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Géa is the -140 favorite, while Basavareddy offers +115 as both players enter their third and final qualifying match.

Basavareddy has improved as the week has progressed. The 21-year-old needed three sets to get past Moise Kouame in his opener before producing a much cleaner 6-2, 6-4 victory over Luka Mikrut on Wednesday. He has now won four of his last five sets in New York and is one victory away from making his second US Open main draw.

Arthur Gea vs Nishesh Basavareddy Prediction

There is no denying how difficult Thursday's opponent is. Géa broke through earlier this month by winning his first ATP Tour title in Los Cabos, beating Francisco Cerundolo and Denis Shapovalov during the run. He has carried that momentum into New York by beating Sumit Nagal in straight sets and Clement Chidekh in three.

That recent résumé explains why Géa is favored, but Basavareddy has already shown he can raise his level substantially against better-ranked opposition. His biggest result this season came at Roland Garros, where he stunned then-World No. 9 Taylor Fritz in four sets for his first career Top-10 victory. The stage and ranking difference should not intimidate him.

The surface also helps the American. Basavareddy has spent significantly more of his career developing on hard courts, and his ability to take the ball early and redirect pace gives him a path to disrupting Géa before the Frenchman can dictate. These two have never met, which reduces the value of Géa's ranking advantage when both are still relatively young and developing quickly.

Géa has also had the more demanding second-round match, needing three sets against Chidekh after dropping a tiebreak in the second. Basavareddy was able to get off court in two sets against Mikrut, an important difference with three qualifying matches packed into a short window.

Arthur Gea vs Nishesh Basavareddy Best Bet

At +115, there is enough value to back the American rather than laying a short price on the hottest player in qualifying. Géa's recent run makes this dangerous, but Basavareddy has already demonstrated legitimate ATP-level upside and gets the final-round opportunity on home soil.
