Duckworth has been the value side throughout his Winston-Salem run and continues to close matches exceptionally well. He opened by crushing Quinn Vandecasteele 6-2, 6-1, upset Mariano Navone 6-3, 7-6 and then knocked out Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 6-3. Thursday brought his toughest challenge yet, but Duckworth responded after dropping the opening set to beat Fabian Marozsan 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.

Arthur Fery vs. James Duckworth Prediction
That quarterfinal reinforced what has made Duckworth so appealing this week. The 34-year-old did not panic after losing the first-set tiebreak, immediately changed the match by taking the second 6-2 and eventually produced the decisive break late in the third. He generated 12 break opportunities and hit eight aces while reaching his fourth career ATP Tour semifinal.
Fery is unquestionably dangerous. The 24-year-old has surged to around No. 35 in the live rankings after his Wimbledon semifinal breakthrough and owns one of the fastest-rising profiles on tour. He opened Winston-Salem with straight-set victories over Cruz Hewitt and Mees Rottgering before surviving Aleksandar Kovacevic 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in Thursday's quarterfinal.
That comeback also showed why laying -153 is uncomfortable. Fery was clearly second-best early against Kovacevic and needed to recover from a set down before taking control. His talent can erase those slow stretches, but Duckworth has spent the entire week punishing opponents when matches reach their most important stages.
There is also meaningful head-to-head history. Duckworth leads the career series 2-1 and owns a 2-1 advantage on hard courts, although Fery won their most recent meeting in Cincinnati less than two weeks ago. That match could hardly have been closer, with Fery escaping 6-4, 2-6, 7-6. Duckworth therefore already knows he can push Friday's favorite to the absolute limit under nearly identical hard-court conditions.
Fery's Cincinnati victory is the strongest argument against the pick, but it also makes +125 attractive. There was virtually nothing separating them in that match, and Duckworth has only gotten hotter since. He has now taken out Navone, Sonego and Marozsan in succession and has repeatedly produced his best tennis late in sets and matches.

There is no reason to abandon the underdog now. Duckworth has cashed throughout the week, enters with four consecutive wins and owns the overall head-to-head advantage. Fery has the greater long-term upside, but at this moment Duckworth is playing confidently enough to reverse the Cincinnati result and reach his second career ATP final.
