Dino Prizmic vs. Tommy Paul Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest US Open Odds for Wednesday, September 2nd
Tommy Paul and Dino Prizmic meet Wednesday in the US Open second round after both needed to overcome difficult starts in their opening matches. Prizmic has enough talent and toughness to make this uncomfortable, but Paul should ultimately have too much in front of the New York crowd.

Prizmic and Paul are scheduled for approximately 4:00 PM ET, with Paul a massive -500 moneyline favorite and Prizmic at +349. Rather than paying that price or demanding a straight-sets victory, the better play combines Paul to advance with both players winning at least one set at +105.
Paul already followed that exact script in Round 1. He dropped the opening set to qualifier Coleman Wong in a tiebreak before completely changing the match and winning 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. After the opening-set lapse, Paul lost only seven games across the final three sets.

Dino Prizmic vs. Tommy Paul Prediction
It was another example of why Paul remains dangerous at a major without necessarily being the safest 3-0 candidate. He has reached four ATP finals this season and possesses the movement, return quality and all-court game to eventually separate from players outside the elite tier, but his opening rounds can include stretches where the intensity briefly disappears.
Prizmic is exactly the type of opponent capable of capitalizing. The 21-year-old Croatian survived Aleksandr Shevchenko in a five-set opener, recovering from a 6-2 first-set loss to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5. He had to win 25 service games and navigate 28 break points between the two players before finally closing it out.
That match demonstrated both sides of the handicap. Prizmic has enough resilience to stay in a Grand Slam match after falling behind and enough baseline quality to win multiple sets against an established ATP opponent. He also spent five sets on court and had to survive a 7-5 decider, while Paul had a much cleaner finish after his early stumble.
This will be the first career meeting between them. Prizmic's willingness to defend and extend rallies can bother Paul early, particularly if the American comes out slowly again. Paul is unlikely to receive many free errors when the Croatian settles into neutral exchanges.
Over the full match, Paul's advantages become more significant. He is the better mover, more polished returner and much more experienced player in this environment. Paul has reached the second week in New York before and understands how to manage the physical demands of five-set tennis much better than Prizmic.

The market asks too much to back Paul alone at -500, while a 3-0 victory ignores Prizmic's ability to fight through difficult stretches. A 3-1 Paul victory is the ideal outcome, and even a five-set match remains alive as long as the American ultimately advances.
