Valentin Vacherot vs. Kamil Majchrzak Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest US Open Odds for Wednesday, September 2nd

Valentin Vacherot and Kamil Majchrzak meet Wednesday after producing two of the cleanest first-round performances anywhere in the men's draw. Vacherot is the higher-ranked favorite, but Majchrzak was nearly untouchable on serve in Round 1 and offers strong underdog value in a matchup with no previous head-to-head history.

Valentin Vacherot vs. Kamil Majchrzak Prediction: Can Majchrzak Pull Slight Upset in US Open Second Round?

Vacherot and Majchrzak are scheduled for approximately 5:30 PM ET. Vacherot is favored at -144 while Majchrzak is available at +114, leaving surprisingly little separation between the No. 22 seed and an experienced opponent who looked outstanding in his opener.

Majchrzak could hardly have played a cleaner first match. He demolished Hamad Medjedovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-3, winning all 14 of his service games and never allowing his opponent to convert a break point. He hit 13 aces and won an absurd 84% of first-serve points and 81% of second-serve points.

Valentin Vacherot vs. Kamil Majchrzak Prediction

That second-serve number is particularly impressive. Medjedovic has enough power to punish weak deliveries, yet Majchrzak consistently avoided giving him control of return points. When a player is protecting both serves at that level, the ranking gap becomes much less meaningful.

Vacherot was almost equally dominant against Aleksandar Kovacevic. The No. 22 seed won 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, hit 14 aces and did not face a single break point. He won 90% of first-serve points and 72% behind the second serve, so Wednesday matches two players who barely allowed their opening opponents into return games.

Vacherot deserves to be favored after climbing to No. 23 in the world and producing the stronger overall season. His first-round performance showed exactly why his ranking has risen so quickly, particularly with the serve creating immediate opportunities to attack behind the first ball.

The question is whether that justifies laying -144 against Majchrzak right now. The Pole has been ranked as high as No. 53 and has significantly more years of Grand Slam experience. He is not a young player walking into an unfamiliar situation against a seed, and the way he served against Medjedovic suggests Vacherot may have very few easy return games.

There is no prior head-to-head meeting to lean on. That increases the importance of current form, and both players arrive essentially flawless. When two opponents are serving this efficiently, individual sets can become extremely thin, with one poor service game or tiebreak deciding everything.

Valentin Vacherot vs. Kamil Majchrzak Best Bet

Vacherot may be the better long-term player, but Majchrzak does not need to prove that at +114. He only needs to continue serving close to his Round 1 level and take advantage of a few high-pressure moments. In a matchup that looks much closer than the rankings suggest, the plus-money side is preferable.
