That match was completed Wednesday because weather delays had pushed part of the first round back a day. Buse therefore has to recover from five sets and nearly four hours on court with essentially no normal Grand Slam rest day in between.
Bonzi also played Wednesday, but his workload was lighter. He beat Alex Molcan 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in four sets, hitting 14 aces and winning 76% of his first-serve points. He still had to work, but one fewer set and a less dramatic finish gives him a slight recovery advantage.
Normally that would be enough reason to stay away from Buse. The recent head-to-head changes the equation. These players met in the Winston-Salem semifinal on August 28, and Buse won 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 before beating Arthur Fery in the final to complete the best week of his career.
That result gives Buse an immediate tactical blueprint. He knows he can pressure Bonzi's serve, win the longer baseline exchanges and recover even if the Frenchman manages to steal one set. More importantly, Buse has now won multiple high-pressure matches in less than a week and continues finding another level whenever the match gets late.

The fatigue cannot be dismissed. Four hours Wednesday after playing through Saturday in Winston-Salem is an enormous physical load. But Buse is 22, in the hottest stretch of his career and has spent the last week proving he can repeatedly recover from difficult matches.
Bonzi has the fresher path, but the market is still offering only a modest favorite price on the player who just beat him six days ago and has since won an ATP title and another five-set battle. Ride the momentum one more time.
