Small Fry was slightly unlucky when runner-up over 1m6f at Goodwood and will undoubtedly prove popular once again off a 4lb higher mark. However, the sixth from that contest, VALEDICTORY, may be worth another chance. Despite having won at the same track in May and subsequently at Newmarket's July Festival, he didn't travel particularly well last time and the switch of headgear to first-time blinkers, along with the galloping nature of the Knavesmire, are potential sources of improvement. Ascot winner Kirchner and the progressive Shrimp Shady are others with strong credentials.
