Something Splendid was awarded a division of this race 12 months ago and returns on the back of a narrow Yarmouth triumph. A 5lb penalty does him no favours, though, nor does a 5lb hike for Pontefract winner Spirit Genie, and FANS FAVOURITE might have more room for manoeuvre following a 4lb rise for his Beverley success because he is still only a three-year-old. Almekarem is actually 1lb well-in, with a slight increase for his Epsom second not quite coming into effect yet, so he must be feared.
