Four games without a win sees punters lose confidence in Everton boss Ronald Koeman
A summer spending spree promised so much for Evertonians, with a reported £200 million spent on talent such as ex-England captain Wayne Rooney and Euro U21 star Sandro Ramirez. Upon signing Rooney, confidence was high, with a number of bets coming in for Everton to win the Premier League outright. In this day and age, money demands instant success and 4 matches without a win has led to early calls for manager Ronald Koeman to leave his post.
Since last night’s 3-0 loss to Atalanta, we’ve seen a massive 86% of bets come in for Koeman to be the next manager to leave. The ex-Barcelona man issued an apology post match, but the lack of confidence shows in the odds. He’s dropped from 33/1 to just 6/1 overnight, after a performance described as dire. To emphasise the gulf in betting - Eddie Howe, Mauricio Pellegrino & Rafa Benitez are the next most backed taking just 3% of all bets.
With the small matter of free-scoring Manchester United away next up, it could get worse before it gets better. Respite could lie ahead for Koeman, with 4 successive home ties (Sunderland, Bournemouth, Apollon Limassol & Burnley) but could the rot have already set in by then?
This is the first test of new ambitious owner Farhad Moshiri’s patience, and punters are backing a quick managerial change at Goodison Park. Could Koeman be about to join Frank de Boer on the Premier League manager scrapheap?
Very disappointed match! A really poor first half in all aspects, without the right attitude and… https://t.co/c0X9FZrNwG
