Barcelona receive 95% of all bets as Spurs face injury crisis

Punters have flocked to a Barcelona win this evening due to five key Spurs injuries.

The two sides meet at Wembley in the second Group B match in the Champions League. After a raft of injuries, many sustained in their trip to Huddersfield on Saturday; Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Serge Aurier were all notable absentees from the team’s open training session this week.

As a result, 95.3% of all stakes through Oddschecker in the last 24 hours have been in favour of Barcelona. The away side are heavy favourites and odds-on in places, as short as 19/20.

After disappointingly sacrificing a 1-0 lead late on to lose against Inter Milan in their opening tie, Mauricio Pochettino would have been hoping to field his best line-up for the clash with the Catalan giants. Spurs are handed a conciliatory boost with Hugo Lloris likely to start after missing every game last month, but fans will fear he will have his work cut out on his return to action.

A comparatively out of sorts Barcelona side come into this off the back of poor recent form in La Liga, failing to win in their previous three outings. Ernesto Valverde will see an opportunity to exploit a threadbare Tottenham side and retain their position at the top of Group B.

Wembley holds particular significance for Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi. Having scored in their 3-1 win over Manchester United in the 2011 final, the ground has been kind to him in this competition in the past. He’s as short as 4/6 to score anytime and 5/2 to score first.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: "The pressure is undoubtedly all on Spurs here after losing their opening Champions League game against Inter despite going ahead that evening. You have to wonder whether the gamble on Barcelona is justified given their domestic form, but it takes a brave man to back Spurs with most of their stars in the treatment room."
