The former Red Devils icon is being massively punted to take over at Old Trafford
A flurry of bets have been placed on Michael Carrick becoming the next permanent Manchester United manager, sending his odds of getting the job.
He’s received a whopping 58% of all bets in the last 24 hours, sending his price of becoming the next boss tumbling.
The 37-year-old has been cut from 33/1 into as short as 12/1 for the role, with punters across the UK lumping on the former player to take over at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, Zinedine Zidane’s odds of being appointed are drifting by the day, with the Frenchman moving from 1/2 favourite, to as long as 5/4 with several bookies.
Antonio Conte has also received some love in the market, and is now the second favourite for the job at 6/1. Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers follow next at 12/1 and 20/1 respectively.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “If Zidane is not the man to replace Mourinho, one can expect Carrick to take the reins at least on a caretaker basis 'til the end of the season.”
“If he manages 10 games then many bookies will have to pay out on the best struck on the former pass master. This is definitely one to keep an eye on.”
