Odds shorten on Everton finishing in Premier League top six

Following their third consecutive league win on Sunday, bookies have cut odds on a top six finish for the Toffees.

Everton’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday makes this three win run their best patch of league form since January last year.

Bookies have responded by cutting odds on the possibility of a top six finish for the Toffees, with 20% of bets placed on that market this month going on Everton. Priced as far out as 20/1 earlier this month, they have now been slashed to as short as 11/2 in places, available at a best price of 8/1.

They’ve also been cut to 25/1 for a top four finish by some bookmakers, with a best price of 50/1.

Hailed as something of a tactical masterclass, Marco Silva changed his side’s formation and made three key substitutions at Goodison on Sunday, with all three replacements directly involved in the goals. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun both scored, while Ademola Lookman provided an assist.

Everton will visit Old Trafford on Sunday in the hope of extending their excellent run against a down-trodden Manchester United. After having the full three points snatched away late on and the ugly scenes that followed against Chelsea, Mourinho’s side now face the challenge of a Champions League reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus this week. Everton fans will be hoping their men can take advantage of the fallout.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “This Everton team seem like they are finding their feet under Marco Silva.”

“It remains to be seen if they have the firepower and consistency needed to finish in a very competitive top six, but a win at United on Sunday will certainly get punters talking.”
