Man Utd face most difficult Premier League clash ever according to bookies

Bookies have attached a huge price to Manchester United as they face the league leaders.

Manchester United are 17/2 to beat Manchester City on Sunday. That’s the biggest price they’ve ever been to win a game in the Premier League era.

In other words, bookies are implying there is a probability of just 10.5% of United taking the three points against their local rivals.

This comes just a couple of weeks after the Red Devils were priced at the longest odds they’d ever been at home in the Champions League group stages for their first match against Juventus, which they subsequently lost 1-0.

Despite coming from behind to win the reverse fixture earlier this week, bookmakers continue to attach hefty prices to Jose Mourinho’s side this season. Coming from two goals down to win 3-2 in the Manchester derby last season, United are no strangers to a comeback this term either, with their snatched win at Newcastle last month finishing with the same score line.

Their victory against Juventus on Wednesday night was their third win on the bounce in all competitions, without a loss since the first group game against the Old Lady. That hasn’t stopped bookies all but writing them off when faced with the current Premier League leaders this weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s high-flying City side come into the Manchester derby in ruthless form, having scored 12 goals in their previous two games and only conceding once.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Bookies just don’t fancy United this season and that’s no surprise when facing an almost untouchable City side.”

“Although, with boisterous wins from behind becoming something of a habit for United, punters might fancy backing the underdog at a big price.”
