Bookies slash odds as they expect the Spaniard to replace Mark Hughes at St Mary’s.
Former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores is the heavy favourite to take over at Southampton following the news this morning that the club has parted ways with Mark Hughes.
He has been smashed in to odds-on favourite to take the job at 8/11 having been priced way out at 14/1 just yesterday. Accruing 89% of bets in the last 24 hours on that market, punters are convinced the Spaniard is next in line.
Previous favourite Paulo Sousa has drifted out to 10/1, while Garry Monk (14/1) sits as third favourite.
After a dismal start to their Premier League campaign, Mark Hughes was finally relieved of his duties at the Saints on Monday morning following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the weekend.
Sanchez Flores, out of a job since being dismissed by Espanyol at the end of last season, is being heavily backed to make a return to the Premier League.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Sanchez Flores proved his capabilities in the Premier League in his short tenure at Watford. winning an impressive 12 games in that solitary season. Saints will be hoping for a similar return to lift them away from danger.”
