Slasiva Jokanovic heavily backed to become next Reading manager

The former Fulham boss has had his odds cut to second favourite

Ex-Fulham boss Slasiva Jokanovic is being heavily backed to become the next Reading manager, following reports the Serbian is on the Royals’ shortlist.

He’s been cut from 9/1 into 5/1 to be the next permanent manager, following a flurry of bets on the potential appointment.

Jokanovic is the most backed in the market over the last 24 hours, attracting 28% of all bets on who will succeed Paul Clement.

Elsewhere, Bolton boss Phil Parkinson is the bookies’ favourite to take over at 1/1, followed by Portuguese manager Luis Castro (6/1).

Ex-Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is also in the running according to bookmakers, pencilled as a 10/1 shot to take over.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: ”It seems likely that Luis Castro was the Reading board's first choice to replace Paul Clement, so Phil Parkinson would be a fair bit removed from that line of thinking.

“Jokanovic, on the other hand, has steered two clubs to promotion out of the league whilst playing some of the best football the Championship has ever seen.”
