Jose Mourinho reinstated as clear favourite for managerial sack race

Every single bookie has the Man Utd boss as the clear favourite to go next

Bookmakers have reinstated Jose Mourinho as the clear favourite to be the next manager to leave their post, following Manchester United’s defeat at Liverpool.

At the start of December, Mourinho was available at 10/1 to be the first Premier League manager to leave his post, however, he’s now been cut to as short as 7/4.

The odds of 7/4 imply he has a 36% chance of being the next Prem boss to go. That’s comfortably ahead of his second closest rival, Roy Hodgson, who is 6/1.

He’s the punter’s pick to go first as well, attracting 80% of all bets in the last 24 hours.

Elsewhere, Leicester boss Claude Puel is alongside Hodgson at 6/1 to be the next to go, followed by Burnley manager Sean Dyche (10/1), Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez (14/1) and Cardiff’s Neil Warnock (16/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The pressure is never off Jose but after their languid defeat against their bitter rivals, he should be feeling the heat like never before.

“With United looking miles away from the top four (Which Mourinho stated they would be in by the end of the year), could we finally see a changing of the guard at Old Trafford?

“It’s no surprise that punters and bookies agree on this, with 4/5 of all bets backing the Special One to become the Sacked One.”
