The box-to-box midfielder could be on his way to the East Midlands.
Bookmakers have cut odds on Yaya Toure joining Championship club Nottingham Forest. Following his contract termination by Olympiacos after just five appearances, the 35-year-old is said to be eyeing a return to English football.
Forest are now the favourites to sign Toure. Having started out at 16/1, they are now 6/1 to bring him to the City Ground.
Previously linked West Ham are the current favourites out of all Premier League teams, priced at 10/1 to secure the services of the midfielder despite the club distancing itself from rumours. With 41% of the early money being placed on the East London side, punters still fancy West Ham to be his next destination.
The current favourites to sign the 35-year-old are ‘any Chinese club’ (2/1) and ‘any MLS club’ (5/2), suggesting he could take the usual route for ageing players and play out his career abroad.
Elsewhere, Burnley have had their odds more than halved from 33/1 to 16/1, while Scottish side Rangers are the same price. Newly promoted Wolves are also 16/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Links between Nottingham Forest’s owner Evangelos Marinakis and Olympiacos have seen punters lump on Yaya Toure joining the Reds.
“In total, 26% of all bets on his next destination have been placed on the Championship side, with money continuing to pour in for what would be an unlikely transfer.”
