53% of bets have gone on the Reds since their victory against Newcastle
After beating Newcastle United 4-0 on Boxing Day afternoon, bookies have slashed prices on Liverpool winning the Premier League to odds-on almost across the board. They're now as short as 4/6 to win the title.
Attracting 53% of bets on the Premier League winner market since that victory at Anfield, punters are piling on Jurgen Klopp’s men finishing in the top spot come the end of the season.
Manchester City slumped to a second consecutive away defeat in the Premier League for the first time since January 2017, beaten 2-1 by a resurgent Leicester City. Their losses to Crystal Palace and Leicester have caused them to drift to a best price of 15/8 for the title.
Climbing to second in the league table, Tottenham sit third in the market after a 5-0 win at home to Bournemouth. With two high-scoring victories in a row, they’ve been clipped in from 25/1 last week as far as 8/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The sudden inconsistency of Pep Guardiola’s side strikes a stark contrast to Liverpool’s new found solidity. Now six points clear at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool go into the new year as the ones to beat according to bookies and punters alike.”
