Hull City hugely backed for Championship promotion after impressive festive period

The Tigers have won four in a row and have shot up the Championship table.

Out of nowhere, Hull City are daring to dream about a return to the Premier League and 78% of bets placed through Oddschecker since the start of yesterday (01/01) are on Nigel Adkin’s men to secure an improbable promotion.

The Tigers have put their off-the-field problems to one side and have won four games in a row, including a 2-0 win away at leaders Leeds and most recently a 6-0 thrashing of Bolton.

They are currently 13th in the league but just seven points off the playoffs, and bookies have cut them from a huge 250/1 on Boxing Day to just 25/1 in places.

A best price of 50/1 is available for a second promotion in four years, though this one would be even more incredible than in 2016, when new Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce steered the club to the Premier League via the playoffs.

One punter in the Hull area has even had a near-three figure punt on the Tigers to go up at odds of 50/1. It’s fair to say that he is daring to dream, and they have certainly made the rest of the season even tenser for themselves!

Elsewhere, Leeds remain the bookies favourites to go up at 1/2, while Norwich are a best price of 21/20 to return to the top flight after a three-year absence.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: "Hull were quietly going about their business but their win at Elland Road and eye-catching demolition of Bolton have caught the imagination of punters. Nigel Adkins was criticised by a section of the Tigers support, but he’s working wonders lately and they are flying up the Championship table."
