Fulham eye double swoop for Premier League winners

Claudio Ranieri could be set to raid his former club as Cottagers fight for survival.

Fulham are being heavily linked with moves for two Chelsea players and former Premier League winners, Gary Cahill and Danny Drinkwater.

Claudio Ranieri could be looking to shore up his leaky defence with an experienced head in Gary Cahill.

The 33-year-old centre back is out of favour at Chelsea and bookies have slashed their price from 7/1 as far as odds-on at 1/2 to move to West London rivals Fulham in this window. That’s equivalent to a 66.7% probability that he makes the switch.

Meanwhile, struggling to justify his £35 million price tag, Danny Drinkwater has made just 12 league appearances for Chelsea since joining from Leicester in 2017.

The 28-year-old midfielder is odds-on at 1/3 for a January reunion with manager Claudio Ranieri, with whom he won the title at the Foxes. That’s implying a 75% chance the move happens.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “With Fulham still firmly in the relegation zone it would be wise for Ranieri to bring in some real Premier League experience for the inevitable dogfight ahead. Bookies make it likely that this double swoop happens and they could be just the ticket for the Cottagers survival hopes.”
