Bookmakers are touting the Reds as 4/9 favourites to win their first league title in the modern era.
Liverpool are the bookmakers’ heavily odds-on favourite to win the Premier League, ahead of their top of the table clash with Champions Man City tonight (January 3rd).
Jürgen Klopp’s side are as short 4/9 to win their first Premier League era title, having been cut from 9/2 at the start of the season.
They’re the punter’s pick as well, attracting 56% of all bets in the last 24 hours and 47% of all activity over the last week.
Elsewhere, tonight’s opponents Manchester City have been bumped down to second favourites in the race for the league, and are 2/1 best price to emulate their efforts of last year.
Tottenham sit third in the market after bouncing back from defeat to Wolves with a 3-0 hammering of Cardiff. Sticking to the theme of a supposed two-horse race, Spurs are a lofty 22/1 to win the league this season.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Without a doubt the biggest game of the Premier League calendar this year, Pep Guardiola’s City are favourites to beat Liverpool tonight, but not to the Premier League title.
The fact that City are penned as 2/1 shots to win the Premier League will not fill those on the Blue half of Manchester with optimism, and that’s reflected in who punters think will end up victorious come the end of the season.
In fact, 3/4 of all bets on the eventual winner have been placed on Klopp's unbeaten side, attracting the lion's share of punting attention."
