The Spaniard is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and ready to move on.
Reports suggest Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has reached an agreement to sign for Monaco in this transfer window.
Bookies have slashed odds on the move happening from 8/1 before Christmas to as short as 1/6. That’s an implied probability of 85.7% that the deal goes ahead.
Out of contract in the summer and way down the pecking order behind new recruits Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, the 31-year-old is said to be close to switching to Monaco having been linked to a loan move to AC Milan.
The move would see the Spaniard link up with former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry, now manager of the Ligue 1 club, as he looks to get his fledgling managerial career onto a more successful path.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Cesc Fabregas has been marginalised at Chelsea by Maurizio Sarri but the Spaniard still has loads to offer.”
“He is one of the most creative players the Premier League has ever seen and Thierry Henry will be over the moon if Monaco can get this deal over the line.”
