Maurizio Sarri looks set to dip into the transfer market again.
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has had his odds slashed into odds-on to join Chelsea this January, following a flurry of bets.
A series of wagers on Benzema joining the Maurizio Sarri regime has seen his odds tumble, from 7/1 a few days ago into 1/2 heavy favourite as of this morning (January 7th).
That’s believed to be due to the heavy percentage of bets on the move, with 71% of all bets on the hitman’s next club being placed on the West London side.
Benzema has also been cut from 6/1 into 4/9 to leave the La Liga giants this transfer window, with a move away from the Bernabéu looking increasingly likely.
Chelsea really are the only team in contention according to the bookies and the public, with second favourites in the market, Liverpool, a lofty 25/1 to sign the striker.
Manchester United are next in the market at the same price (25/1), followed by Spurs (30/1), West Ham (33/1), Arsenal (33/1) and PSG (50/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Chelsea look in dire need of a new striker. Barring the two goals in the FA Cup at the weekend, Morata looks lost, and they can't continue to rely on an injury prone Giroud.
"Benzema has long been linked to a move to the Premier League, and this could be just the stage for him.
"With the recent betting activity on the Frenchman's next club, someone is either in the know or simply putting two-and-two together, as the Blues search for a striker."
