The former England left-back has been playing abroad since 2014.
Ashley Cole has been rumoured for a return to England for some time and it appears that a host of clubs are eager to capture the veteran’s signature.
But it’s Derby County who are in pole position according to the bookies, with a best price of just 5/4 available for a reunion with former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard.
Since the market has been live, a whopping 76% of bets have gone on Cole making the move to Pride Park, in what would be a coup for rookie boss Lampard in his bid to guide the Rams to the top flight for the first time in 12 years.
Second favourites are Aston Villa, where another reunion would be on the cards. John Terry is assistant at Villa Park and could have a hand in steering the 38-year-old to the Midlands. They are 4/1 best price.
Rounding off the top three are Rangers, where former England teammates Steven Gerrard and Jermain Defoe would be waiting. They can be found at 6/1.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “It would be a high-profile signing for Derby County and Frank Lamapard would be eager that his side benefit from Cole’s vast experience, although his second tier playing time amounts to just 14 games with Crystal Palace back at the turn of the millennium!”
