Guardiola has previously said that Rice would be his “long term Fernandinho”
Bookmakers have slashed odds on West Ham starlet Declan Rice joining Manchester City this January, following a flurry of betting activity.
One bookie has cut odds decisively from 20/1 on January 3rd, all the way to 5/2 as of today (January 23).
That makes Man City the clear favourites in the race to sign the young star, as money continues to pour in on the 20-year-old moving despite signing a new contract at the Hammers.
It’s now far less likely that Rice will stay at West Ham according to the bookies. At the start of the window, Rice was 1/18 to stay at the Hammers. That’s now been lengthened to 1/3.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are second favourites to sign the wonderkid at 16/1, followed by Chelsea (25/1), Tottenham (33/1), Everton (33/1), Liverpool (40/1) and Arsenal (40/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “A few holding midfielders have been linked to Manchester City in recent weeks, with Rice the latest.
"Given that Guardiola has already spoken of his admiration for the player, this looks like a feasible move in the market."
