Mauricio Pochettino has a track record of improving young English players
Tottenham Hotspur have been installed as the early favourites to sign Leeds starlet Jack Clarke, with bookies rushing to price up his next destination.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 8/1 to sign the forward this January, making them clear front-runners in the race for the 18-year-old.
That may come to the surprise of Man City fans, with Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly interested in the Leeds winger. They’re 14/1 to secure Clarke’s signature.
Punters’ money is split between Spurs and City, with 32% of bets Clarke joining the former and 26% on the latter.
Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace are third favourites to land the forward at 16/1, followed by Southampton at the same price.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: Both Jack Grealish and Jarrod Bowen have been targeted by Spurs in the last six months, so we can see that Pochettino is an admirer of homegrown Championship talent.
“With Clarke playing a major role for Leeds this season, it would take a huge bid to force their hand in January.”
