City's defeat to Newcastle has seen Liverpool’s odds slashed for Premier League glory
Bookmakers have unanimously slashed odds on Liverpool winning their first ever Premier League, following Manchester City’s slip up away at Newcastle.
Since the full-time whistle blew at St James’ Park, Liverpool have shortened from 4/6 into 4/11 to win the league.
In layman’s terms, that’s the difference between a 60% chance of winning it and a 73.3% of taking home the title.
Man City, on the other hand, have lengthened from 6/5 into 14/5, with Spurs being touted as 80/1 shots to pull of the most unlikely of title wins.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: "Man City's title bid derailed in the most sensational of fashions last night, crashing to an unbelievable defeat to the Toon.
"Penned as 1/6 favourites last night, bookies had all but written off the winning betting slips on Guardiola's men after they went ahead in the first minute.
"However, those in Liverpool will be toasting to Salomon Rondon and Matt Ritchie, who could well have put the title beyond City's control."
