Man City and Liverpool stars battle for PFA Player of the Year

Aguero has been cut from 16/1 into 4/1, although Virgil van Dijk is still favourite.

Manchester City and Liverpool players make up the top six favourites for PFA Player of the Year, with Virgil van Dijk remaining 6/5 favourite.

However, the biggest market mover is within Liverpool’s title rivals squad, with Sergio Aguero being cut from 16/1 into 4/1 following back-to-back hat-tricks against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Aguero and van Dijk are by far the most fancied in the market by punters as well, attracting 37% and 23% of all bets respectively in the last 24 hours.

Elsewhere, last year’s winner Mo Salah is the third favourite at 6/1, followed by a trio of City players in; David Silva (14/1), Raheem Sterling (14/1) and Fernandinho (25/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Sergio Aguero equalled Alan Shearer for Premier League hat-tricks on Sunday and he now looks to be the talisman in City's quest to retain their title.

"With Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva playing peripheral roles so far this season, the race for POTY could develop into a two-way scramble decided by whoever can finish the season top of the table."
