Eric the Red is now the front runner for the inaugural role.
Manchester United icon Eric Cantona has been installed as the new clear favourite to take on the role of Director of Football at the club.
The Red Devils legend is now the even money (1/1) favourite to take over the reins at Old Trafford, as they look to add an important figure to the structure of the club.
The former head of recruitment at Spurs Paul Mitchell, who is currently overseeing recruitment at RB Leipzig, is next in the market at 3/1.
Meanwhile, a host of other United heroes follow with the likes of Edwin Van Der Sar (4/1), Gary Neville (14/1) and Solskjaer all getting a mention.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Manchester United’s need for some direction at board room level has never been clearer, so it would be a brave decision to hire Cantona despite his legendary status.
“With Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton in the Old Trafford Director's Box already, it would be a perplexing decision to bring the Frenchman into the role.”
