Maurizio Sarri heavily ODDS-ON to be next manager to go after FA Cup defeat

Some bookies say there’s an 83.3% chance he is the next Premier League manager to leave.

Following a crushing 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in their FA Cup fifth round tie, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is now heavily odds-on to be the next Premier League manager to leave their post.

Priced at 4/5 before the game kicked off, the Italian now finds himself in a perilous position, as short as 1/5. That’s an implied probability of 83.3% that Sarri is the next to go. He's the punters' pick as well with a whopping 87% of bets going on the 60-year-old in the last 24 hours.

With Sunday's League Cup Final against Man City looming, one bookie has slashed odds on Sarri leaving before the game from 6/1 to 11/10. That means his chances of going this week have jumped from 14.3% to 47.6%.

Chelsea fans had hoped their team could make a statement in response to their humiliating 6-0 loss in the Premier League at the hands of Manchester City, but they were outclassed again by the red side of Manchester.

Under fire Everton manager is still second favourite in the market, but has now drifted out to a best price of 6/1.

Meanwhile, in the market to replace Sarri at Chelsea, Zinedine Zidane is currently the clear favourite at a best price of 7/4.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The FA Cup tie was an opportunity for Maurizio Sarri to prove some of his doubters wrong, but all it did was reiterate his weaknesses.

“Like-for-like substitutions and seemingly lacking any plan B, this Chelsea side look in dire straits and Sarri doesn’t appear to be the man to get them out of it. Another drubbing from City on Sunday would surely be the end for him, but plenty are starting to think he won't even get that chance.”
