Champions League Odds: Liverpool the big winners from quarter final draw

Liverpool are likely to shorten in the latest Champions League Odds after Jurgen Klopp’s side were drawn against Benfica in the quarter finals.

The second favourites behind last season’s beaten finalists Manchester City remain a best price 13/4 but have been handed the most favourable of the last eight ties on paper.

The Reds will also avoid English opposition until the final, as their semi-final opponent - should they progress - would be either Bayern Munich or Unai Emery’s Villarreal, who fully deserve their shot at the German giants having upset Juventus in the last 16.

The only slight negative to an otherwise perfect draw for Liverpool was that they came out the hat first in the semi-final draw, which will most likely mean a second leg semi-final trip to the Allianz Arena. The 2019 winners will be at Anfield for the second leg of the quarter final against Benfica.

On the other side of the draw, problem-stricken Chelsea (14/1) were drawn against 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s semi-final, which of course the Blues came through on their way to lifting the trophy. The same as last year, Tuchel’s side will play the first leg at Stamford Bridge before heading to Spain for the second leg.

The draw has also thrown up a possible repeat of last season’s final, should Manchester City (current 9/4 favourites) come through a tough looking tie against Manchester United’s conquerors Atletico Madrid. Like Chelsea, City will be in Madrid for the second leg, but it would be Chelsea (or Real) who would get the second leg home advantage at the semi-final stage.

The Champions League 2021/2022 quarter-final first legs will be played on 5/6 April, with the return second legs taking place on 12/13 April.
