Robert Lewandowski Next Club Odds: Golden Shoe winner into 3/1 to make Barcelona move

oddschecker look at the latest odds in the market for Robert Lewandowski’s next club.

One final big move?

Robert Lewandowski’s future has been hanging in the balance for some time now; his contract is due to expire in 2023 and he is reaching the tail end of his career.

The likelihood is that he only has a few years at the top-level left. The Polish striker won the European Golden Shoe last season scoring 48 goals in all competitions, and he even finished second to Lionel Messi for the 2021 Ballon D’or award.

He has perhaps reached the end of the line in his journey with Bayern Munich where he has played since 2014. The 33-year-old has scored 340 goals in 369 games for Bayern Munich, a truly ridiculous statistic and any team would be lucky to have a goal scorer of his calibre in their side for the next couple of years.

Camp Nou the next destination?

Could we potentially see Polish goal machine landing in Barcelona next season? At the start of the season, it wouldn’t have seemed that likely with Barcelona’s turmoil and financial woes. However, these issues now seem to have been cleared up and they’ve signed the likes of Adama Traore and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang since then.

Their previous star midfielder Xavi is now in the hot seat, and he has done quite well with the rebuilding job - they currently sit in second position in La Liga albeit 15 points adrift of their great rivals Real Madrid.

At the time of writing, odds had been dramatically cut from 33/1 to as short as 3/1 for the Pole to make the move to Spain. They are certainly the strongest potential suitors at this stage.

Bundesliga to La Liga – Smooth Transition

Given that the football played in Spain is of a similar style and tempo to that of the Bundesliga, it could certainly be the ideal transition for a player like Lewandowski in the latter stages of his career.

A Premier League move would not be out of the question, but it would be a much more difficult ask of the striker so late in his career. Only a few have moved to the Premier League so late in their careers and have made a success of it. If any side would probably take a punt on him, it could be Newcastle United (20/1) with their recent financial influx.

Who else is in the running?

It’s no surprise that one of the top potential suitors for his signature amongst the bookies are French champions PSG. They have all the funds in the world available to sign him and he could link up with star-studded names like Kylian Mbappe, Messi and Neymar. If you fancy him to make the move to Paris, you can get best odds of 6/1.

A surprise inclusion in the betting is Inter Milan at 18/1. This would seem an unlikely proposition although again the slow Italian style would suit his game. The first English side in the betting market is Manchester City (4/1), another that feels unlikely as City are reportedly chasing Erling Haaland.

It wouldn’t be in City’s usual transfer style to go after an ageing striker (no matter how good he is). He could of course still stay at Bayern, and he is still odds on for this scenario (1/5).
