Vincent Kompany is now 1/3 in the next Burnley manager odds market, but Bristol Rovers’ League Two promotion winning manager Joey Barton remains a live contender.
Kompany the short price favourite
Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany is now the big bookies favourite (1/3) for the top job at Turf Moor, having come in from 8/1 in places less than two weeks ago.
Kompany led Anderlecht to third place in the Belgian First Division table this season with 18 wins from 34 matches, before finishing third in the playoffs (won by Club Brugge).
The four-time winner of the Premier League as a player has been identified as the man to get the Clarets back in the big time at the first time of asking. They were relegated after six seasons in the Premier League with a 1-2 home defeat to Newcastle sealing their fate.
Barton to make the step up from Bristol Rovers?
Barton, meanwhile, was still available at 33/1 and even 40/1 on the Monday after Bristol Rovers secured promotion to League One with a final day drubbing of Scunthorpe United earlier this month, but now finds himself with a best price of 6/1 (11/2 in places).
The Pirates took 13 points from the last 15 available (unbeaten in their last seven) to sneak into the third and final promotion place despite losing 12 and drawing 11 of their 46 league games.

Rooney to swap Pride Park for Turf Moor?
Third favourite Wayne Rooney remains in the thick of the next Burnley manager odds market. The Manchester United and England record goalscorer is still the manager at Derby County despite the Rams’ relegation to League One earlier this month.
Rooney was cut in to the favourite to become Sean Dyche’s permanent replacement on 27th April at best odds of 3/1, a price which remained largely static until drifting from 13th May. He is now out at 9/1 but remains 15/2 with some bookmakers.
