Cristiano Ronaldo Next Club: Transfer Odds shorten on Chelsea summer move

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken more than 30% of the transfer bets through oddschecker since news broke of his desire to leave Manchester United.

The 37-year-old is just one year into his second spell at Old Trafford but is now faced with Europa League football for the first time in his career.

United finished sixth after a dismal season, 16 points behind third placed Chelsea - who are now as short as 11/4 to sign the Portuguese forward (best price 5/1).

Despite United's troubles, Ronaldo still racked up 24 goals in all competitions last season, including 18 in the Premier League - a number bettered only by joint Golden Boot winners Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son.

According to the latest bookmaker odds, the favourite outcome would still see Ronaldo stay at Old Trafford (best price 10/11). It is understood that the club do not regard him as being ‘for sale’ and will insist on him attending the pre-season tour to Australia and Asia.

Nevertheless, his standing in the global game guarantees that the rumour mill will keep turning until the close of the transfer window on September 1st. But who else might be interested?

Chelsea have been the biggest movers over the weekend, in from 30/1 to 9/2 on Sky Bet across Saturday as a whole. The same firm still holds the best price of 5/1 on Ronaldo landing at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are similarly priced to sign the five-time Ballon d’Or winner (general 9/4), but with a shorter best price of 3/1

Both Chelsea and German giants Bayern are in the market for new strikers, with Romelu Lukaku having returned to Inter and Robert Lewandowski thought to be closing on a move away from the Allianz Arena.

The price on a move to PSG has held firm over the weekend (14/1), while a sensational return to Real Madrid is 6/1 with one bookmaker but remains a best price 16/1.
