With the international break looming, caretaker manager Gary O’Neil has one more chance to justify his place at the head of the next Bournemouth manager odds market.
Since Scott Parker was sacked following his side’s 9-0 battering at the hands of Liverpool, Bournemouth are unbeaten in the league, picking up a point at home to Wolves before taking all three against Nottingham Forest after being 2-0 down in a memorable comeback.
The Cherries travel to St James’ Park on Saturday to play Newcastle, who remain unbeaten in matches at home after a win of their own against Forest combined with draws against Manchester City and Crystal Palace. It will be a tough ask for O’Neil’s side, but the Forest result will have given them confidence they can pull off a surprise (best price 7/1 to win).
Gary O’Neil
Given his positive short stint as caretaker manager so far, O’Neil remains the 3/1 favourite in the next Bournemouth manager odds market, but will the board take a chance on him permanently given what happened the last time they promoted from within?
Jason Tindall, Eddie Howe’s trusted assistant, was sacked after less than six months in the top job with the club eight points outside the automatic promotion places in the Championship. But if it’s not to be O’Neil, who are the other leading candidates for the job?

Sean Dyche
The former Burnley manager, sacked by the Clarets last season, is still firmly in the running. He brought Burnley up from the Championship and managed them on a tight budget within the Premier League, earning plaudits for doing so against teams with much less financial constraint.
This may be a favourable trait for the Bournemouth board, considering the lack of investment over the summer at Bournemouth compared to fellow promoted sides Fulham and Forest. The 51-year-old has a best price of 4/1 (11/8 with one bookmaker) to join the Cherries’ Premier League survival bid.

Nathan Jones
The Luton Town boss (10/1) is rebuilding his reputation in a second spell with the Hatters after an unsuccessful time with Stoke City. He took Luton to the brink of the Premier League last season before falling in the playoffs to Huddersfield but would be tempted by the opportunity to manage in the top flight – especially given Luton currently sit in a lowly 19th place in the Championship.

Kjetil Knutsen
FK Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen remained the strong favourite in the next Brighton manager odds market for the best part of a week, but it appears he will be edged out in the race to replace Graham Potter at the Amex by Lens head coach Franck Haise.
Having joined in January 2018, Knutsen led the club to successive Eliteserien titles in 2020 and 2021. With eight games to go this season, Bodø/Glimt sit 3nd in the table - 13 points behind Molde. He is a best price 12/1 to become Bournemouth's next permanent boss (worst price 15/2).

Sam Allardyce
And finally, who better for a survival mission than Big Sam? The well-travelled 67-year-old has long been renowned for his ability to pull sides out of trouble, but his reputation has been tarnished both by off-field matters and his failure to keep West Brom up in 2021. He is a best price 12/1 to become the next Bournemouth manager but is as short as 4/1 with one bookmaker.
