World Cup 2022 Odds: Germany drift following Japan humbling

Germany drift from 9/1 to 25/1 to win outright and face an uphill battle to qualify from Group E.

In what is becoming a bit of a theme in the World Cup 2022 group stages, Japan have produced a stunning 2-1 result to beat Germany in Qatar.

That has seen Hansl Flick's men drift from 9/1 to 25/1 in the outright market and they are now odds-against to even qualify from Group E at 5/4.

Impact on World Cup Outright Markets

Germany World Cup Odds Latest Price Was Price
To Win Outright 25/1 9/1
Group E Winner 6/1 11/10
To Qualify from Group E 5/4 1/7

Similarly to Argentina yesterday, the Germans went ahead in the first half, through Ilkay Gundogan, and looked on course for a routine win in their pursuit to top the group.

Two second half goals from the Japanese though have really set the cat among the pigeons in Group E, with Spain now 8/15 to top the group from evens, before they've even kicked a ball. Bookmakers now expect Spain and Japan to qualify with best odds of 1/7 and 4/9 respectively.

If Japan can reproduce that level of performance in the seocnd half in their next two Group E matches against Costa Rica and Spain, you can back them at best price 7/2 vs worst price at 9/4.

Costa Rica remain the rank outsiders to win this group and can be backed at 50/1 best price compared to 25/1 worst price.
