Arsenal Transfer Odds: The likeliest replacements for Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal Transfer Odds: The likeliest replacements for Gabriel Jesus

We look at the likeliest replacements for Gabriel Jesus at Premier League leaders Arsenal according to the bookmaker odds.

You have to go back all the way to the 2003/04 season for the last time Arsenal won the Premier League. Led by legendary manager Arsene Wenger, they achieved something no team had before - or indeed managed since – in going undefeated for a whole season.

Almost 20 years on, the Gunners are trying to make their own history under Mikel Arteta.

Arteta’s men are top of the table and are the best price of 27/10 to win the Premier League. They are currently five points ahead of defending champions Manchester City, having registered just one defeat in their first 14 league games.

The summer recruitment was crucial to how the team has been playing. Oleksandr Zinchenko brought a winning mentality, while the purchase of Gabriel Jesus gave another dimension to Arsenal’s attack.

Jesus’ form for the Gunners earned him a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup but he managed to pick up an injury, which will reportedly sideline the 25-year-old for three months.

With Arsenal on a title charge, the Gunners cannot just rely on Eddie Nketiah and will surely be in the window for a new attacking option. But where will they turn?

Joao Felix - 6/1

23-year-old Joao Felix will have a host of Europe’s top clubs looking at him after his performances for Portugal during the World Cup. Felix currently plays for Atletico Madrid, but he has always appeared to be a mismatch with Diego Simeone’s more conservative style and has reportedly been frustrated with the team’s approach to games.

Felix can play in multiple positions across the front line and is currently the best price of 6/1 to join Arteta’s men in North London. Recruiting Felix would certainly help their title chances.

Wilfried Zaha - 12/1

Wilfried Zaha has always been in transfer discussions and you can see why, with the 30-year-old managing to bag 10+ goals in the league in three of his last four seasons at Crystal Palace.

The Ivorian international has scored six goals already this season and is well on track to surpass the 10-goal mark once again in 2022/23.

Zaha is currently the best price of 12/1 (worst 8/1) to join the Gunners. The 30-year-old is an Arsenal fan and would certainly love a move to the Emirates. He can play off the left and in a more central role, while unlike others on the list knows the demands of Premier League football.

Cody Gakpo - 12/1

Arsenal know Cody Gakpo very well with the Dutch international already having faced Arteta’s men twice in the Europa League and scoring a goal against them.

Gakpo was heavily linked with Manchester United in the summer transfer window but a deal was never reached. The 23-year-old has certainly put the world on notice with his impressive displays for the Netherlands in the World Cup, scoring three times.

Arsenal are currently the best price of 12/1 to pick up Gakpo, who like to Felix can play across the front line but has no real experience of Premier League football.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 22/1

Ronaldo has had a 2022 to forget with the Portuguese legend having his terminated contracted by Manchester United and his professionalism being brought into question.

Ronaldo was then dropped by Portugal during the knockout stages of the World Cup and looks a shell of the former player he once was. But if Arsenal were looking for a short-term deal option, might they consider a move for the 37-year-old?

He is currently 1/10 to join any Saudi Pro League Club but if a top club decided to come in for him he would surely consider it. Chelsea are still 14/1 in the market but Arsenal at 22/1 could be an option. Remember, Ronaldo did manage to score 18 goals last season for the Red Devils.
