Next QPR Manager Odds: Gareth Ainsworth odds-on-favourite to succeed Critchley

Gareth Ainsworth is the current favourite to replace Neil Critchley as the next QPR manager, following his dismissal after just 12 games in charge.

Neil Critchley was only appointed QPR boss in December after Michael Beale left for Rangers and only managed 12 games before being relieved of his duties.

The 44-year-old won his first game in charge against Preston but only managed to pick up five points from a possible 30 since then.

QPR have gone 10 Championship games without a win and are 17th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.

Who are among the favourites to become the next QPR manager?

Gareth Ainsworth

Gareth Ainsworth is currently the long-serving manager of League One side Wycombe Wanders but he is currently odds-on-favourite at 2/7 to take the helm at Loftus Road. Ainsworth knows QPR well having played for them for seven years and was even caretaker manager in 2008 and 2009.

Ainsworth has Championship experience when he led Wycombe Wanderers to the Championship during the 2020/21 season but that did result in relegations for the Chairboys.

Shaun Derry

Crystal Palace professional development coach Shaun Derry is 7/1 to manage QPR. Similar to Ainsworth, Derry also played for QPR in his playing day having made 92 appearances for Queens Park Rangers during 2010-2013.

Derry has never coached in the Championship but has managed Cambridge United. Similar to the appointment of Michael Beale, Derry is used to being a number two assistant to Karl Robinson at Oxford.

Chris Wilder

Former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder is next on the list at the best price of 16/1 but can be found as short as 6/1 with one bookmaker.

Wilder was sacked on 3rd October 2022 with Boro in the bottom three of the Championship, ending his 11-month stint at the Riverside Stadium. They had won only two of 11 league games played in the 2022/23 season but Wilder will be remembered for his success at Sheffield United where he guided the Blades back to the Premier League.
