England begin their journey towards a first Women’s World Cup final by playing Haiti in their opening Group D match in Brisbane tomorrow.
The Lionesses are generally low odds (11/4 best price) to reach a first World Cup final, behind only two-time champions USA (13/10), but it won't be a smooth path for Sarina Wiegman's side.

England Route to World Cup Final - If they win the Group
The Lionesses have been offered a kind group alongside Denmark, China and debutants Haiti, but beyond that England's side of the draw is tricky - even if they win Group D.

One of Australia or Olympic champions Canada (Group B runners up should England top Group D) could await them in the second round, while a repeat of the Euro 2022 final against Germany is on the cards in the last eight, assuming Germany get past either Brazil or France in the last 16.
In the final four England might have to beat hosts Australia, who ended the Lionesses’ 30-match unbeaten run under Wiegman with a 2-0 win at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium in April.
All this before a potential final against the tournament favourites, USA, who are looking to win the Women’s World Cup for a third time in a row having beaten England 2-1 in the last-four on their way to winning in France four years ago.

England Lionesses World Cup 2023 Odds
The England Lionesses enter the 2023 World Cup full of confidence having won the last major tournament in women’s football - the 2022 Women’s European Championships.
They now come to the World Cup looking to better their best ever performance which was a 3rd place finish back in 2015.
With Beth Mead out with an ACL injury, alongside captain Leah Williamson, the concerns are that the England Lionesses will struggle to emulate that Euro 2022 success.
Millie Bright will take over captain’s duties, but is recovering from her own knee injury, while Jill Scott and Ellen White both retiring last year means there may be a lack of leadership in the dressing room.
Mary Earps, Millie Bright and Keira Walsh will be England’s key players in this tournament with the absence of Mead and Williamson, and they will look to lead England to their best-ever finish, even if they are expected to fall just short of winning another major trophy.
