Former Liverpool star and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has dominated the betting to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.
Xabi Alonso, who is the odds-on favourite with all of the UK’s top bookmakers, has taken 58% of all bets placed on oddschecker since the news first broke this morning.
After starting the day at odds of 5/1, Alonso now sits at a best price 8/11 in the next Liverpool manager odds following Klopp’s announcement earlier today (shortest 1/2)
The only other manager who is shorter than 10/1 at best price is Roberto De Zerbi (17/2 on Paddy Power), who has only accounted for 13.6% of bets placed today.
Current Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou (25/1 on bet365) is the third most backed to succeed Klopp at Liverpool (now shortening to be the next England manager), amassing 6.1% of total bets.

Leon Blackman from oddschecker commented: “After the shock announcement earlier from Jurgen Klopp, we’ve seen one of the busiest days ever in betting traffic for a Next Manager market.
“Xabi Alonso’s odds have crashed in from 5/1 to the odds-on favourite at 8/11 for the Liverpool job and oddschecker punters agree. 58.3% of all bets placed today with us have backed Alonso to replace Klopp at the end of this campaign.
“The only other manager currently close to Alonso in the market, Roberto De Zerbi, has only received backing from 13.6% of punters. This market will be one to keep a close eye on to see for further changes in the race for the next Liverpool manager."
