There is a new favourite in the next Ireland manager odds market.
The odds for John O’Shea becoming the next Republic of Ireland manager have been cut from 40/1 into 6/4 overnight on Sky Bet.
The former Manchester United and 118-cap defender has become the favourite for the job, usurping the likes of Neil Lennon and Lee Carsley at the top of the market.
Carsley (2/1) has only ever managed at club level on an interim or caretaker basis with Brentford and Birmingham City. However, he led England Under-21's to the European Championship last summer.
Lennon, meanwhile (3/1), is most remembered for his time with Celtic, where he made 214 league appearances and won 10 Scottish Premiership titles, with five each as both a player and manager. He has been out of work since his short spell with Cypriot side Omonia came to an end in October 2022.

Converting O’Shea’s odds into implied probability, O’Shea’s chances of replacing Stephen Kenny in the next Ireland manager odds market have improved from 2.4% to 40%.
Chris Coleman, who had briefly been the odds-on favourite over the past few days, is now considered an outsider for the role at 6/1.
