
Everton have been given a boost in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The punishment handed to Everton for breaching Premier League financial fair play (FFP) rules has been reduced from 10 points to six on appeal.

Everton have subsequently drifted from a general 7/2 to a best price 10/1 on Betway to be relegated from the Premier League (implied 9% chance).
The Toffees were as short as 7/4 (best price 2/1) to be relegated from the Premier League when the 10-point deduction for FFP (financial fair play) violations was initially confirmed in November.

At the time, the 10-point penalty saw Sean Dyche’s side drop from 14th to 19th place (two points from safety), only ahead of bottom side Sheffield United on points difference.
Before today's reduction, Everton were just a point outside of the relegation zone but that cushion will now increase to five. In the process, Everton will jump a place in the table from 17th to 16th ahead of Nottingham Forest.
Forest remain relatively flat (2/1 best price on BetMGM) in the latest Premier League relegation odds, but Luton are now as short as 1/2 having been a general 8/11 yesterday.
