There is an eye-catching name at the head of the next Burnley manager market after Bayern Munich confirmed the appointment of Vincent Kompany.
One of football's worst kept secrets was confirmed on Wednesday with Vincent Kompany swapping relegated Burnley for German giants Bayern Munich.
Bayern confirmed his appointment after failing to lure Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso and Germany's Julian Nagelsmann to the Allianz Arena.
When the news first broke of Kompany's imminent departure, the list of favourites to replace him as Burnley manager was led by David Moyes, William Still and Steve Cooper.
Moyes saved the Hammers from relegation twice over two spells before securing three top nine finishes and a first trophy in 43 years - the Europa Conference League.
Still left Reims with immediate effect after the club's 11th-place finish in Ligue 1, while Cooper has been out of work since being sacked by Nottingham Forest just a few days before Christmas.
However, there are now two others on top of the pile in the latest next Burnley manager odds market. Both are looking to rebuild their managerial careers.
Who is the favourite to be the next manager of Burnley?
The shock favourite to replace Vincent Kompany as Burnley manager is now Frank Lampard, who is given a greater than 66% chance of getting the job at the shortest price of 1/2 (best 4/6 on Sky Bet).

Lampard made his name in management by taking Derby to the Championship Playoff final in 2019. He earned praise for his first season at Chelsea in 2019/20, finishing 4th and taking the Blues to the FA Cup final. However, poor results at the start of the 2020/21 season saw him replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
Now 45, Lampard returned to management with Everton in January 2022, saving the Toffees from relegation before suffering a similar second season syndrome as he had at Chelsea.
Ironically, he was given another chance at Stamford Bridge as caretaker manager in 2023 but could only manage one win from 11 matches as the club finished 12th - a first bottom-half finish since 1996.
Lampard has jumped ahead of the previous favourite Scott Parker, who has been out of work since being sacked by Club Brugge in March 2023 after just 12 matches in charge of the Belgian side. That was his first post since leaving Bournemouth shortly after a 9-0 defeat at Liverpool in August 2022.
His success as a manager came at Fulham who he brought back to the Premier League at the first time of asking in 2020 via the Championship Playoffs.
