A huge shake up in the next Wales manager odds market as a new name emerges as the leading candidate on oddschecker.
Having been as long as 5/1 on Monday morning, Oxford United manager Des Buckingham now stands as the odds-on favourite to be Rob Page’s successor as Wales manager.
He is a shortest 1/2 on BetVictor but can still be backed at evens on William Hill.

Even at best price, those odds translate to an increase in implied probability from 16.7% to a 50% chance Buckingham is named as the new Wales boss.
93% of all bets placed through oddschecker on Monday have backed Buckingham for the role as he usurps the previous favourite Craig Bellamy, an assistant to Vincent Kompany at Burnley since July 2022.
Having been acting head coach since Kompany departed for Bayern Munich, incoming boss
Scott Parker has now confirmed he intends to work with Bellamy at Turf Moor.
Bellamy's odds have subsequently drifted out to 3/1 (shortest 15/8), while it’s a similar story for Thierry Henry, whose odds have drifted from a shortest 9/4 to 10/1 with Sky Bet.
Who is Des Buckingham?
The new favourite for the Wales manager job is the 39-year-old League One Playoff winning manager Des Buckingham.
Buckingham became the youngest head coach in the history of the A-League during the 2016–17 A-League season before leaving Wellington Phoenix to take up a coaching role at Stoke City in July 2017.
He returned to New Zealand to manage the country's Under 20 side before being promoted to the Under 23s in June 2019.
Roles with Melbourne City and Mumbai City followed ahead of his move to Oxford United in November 2023. His side beat Bolton in the playoff final at Wembley in May.
