The 32-year-old was left out of Aston Villa’s side that faced Crystal Palace, and reports emerging on Monday suggest he has asked the club to let him join Manchester United.
Since joining Aston Villa, Martinez has kept 52 clean sheets in the Premier League, ranking fifth out of all goalkeepers since the beginning of the 2019-20 season.
If Martinez was to leave for United, he leaves a Villa team who are competing in the Europa League this season.
