Next Manager to be Sacked Odds: Howe in trouble after derby loss

Eddie Howe's odds are expected to drop in the next manager sacked market after a disappointing week.

Eddie Howe heads into a crucial period at Newcastle after a derby defeat that will have cut especially deep on Tyneside.

Sunderland’s 2-1 win at St James’ Park not only completed a rare league double over their local rivals, but also sealed their first victory away at Newcastle in just under a decade, sparking boos from the home crowd at full-time.

For a side now sitting 12th and with five defeats in their last nine games in all competitions, losing to Sunderland in that fashion only intensified the sense that this season is slipping away.

Coming just days after Newcastle’s heavy Champions League exit, it was another major blow for Howe, with the mood around the club growing increasingly tense.

Next Manager Sacked Odds

Oliver Glasner entered the weekend as the favourite to be sacked and with their game against Man City postponed his position should not have changed.

Arne Slot was 9/4 second favourite and after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton, he will likely have shortened in the market.

Liam Rosenior was third favourite at 5/2 and a 3-0 loss against Everton courtesy of a Beto brace and Ndiaye goal, will mean he will join Slot.

Scott Parker's Burnley look resigned to relegation and a 3-1 defeat against Fulham will have only worsened their situation. Whether the club would make the decision to sack Parker at this point in the campaign remains to be seen.

You can expect Howe's odds to be cut from the 16/1 price entering the weekend. His price will have shortened after today’s humiliating derby defeat to Sunderland, which brought boos from the St James’ Park crowd, and that slide has only been accelerated by the damaging 7-2 loss to Barcelona in midweek that ended their Champions League campaign. With Newcastle now stuck in 12th and the mood around the club turning, the pressure on Howe is rising fast.
