The odds on Middlesbrough to win promotion from the Championship have been slashed from 4/5 to 1/2 with Bet Victor, and after the week Boro have just had, nobody should be shocked.
Ladbrokes still offer the best price on Middlesbrough to win promotion from the Championship, at 4/6.
Three of nine bookmakers have cut their odds on Middlesbrough.
West Ham remain the favourites at a best price of 3/10 with Betfair Sportsbook.
A 5-1 thrashing of Bolton on the road on Friday took Middlesbrough to the top of the table.
Kim Hellberg's side went to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Friday and came away with a 5-1 win that lifted them to the top of the Championship table. Aidan Morris opened the scoring from an Amario Cozier-Duberry assist, Will Lankshear doubled the lead, and an Adilson Malanda header took a deflection off Lewis Brunt for the third. That is not a side scraping results together. Middlesbrough are unbeaten in ten straight league outings, and Friday was the loudest statement yet that this run has substance behind it.
The reason the bookmakers have moved is simple: this Boro attack does not switch off. Boro have found the net at least twice in six of their last seven fixtures, with Morris, Lankshear and Cozier-Duberry all involved in front of goal at Bolton. Bet Victor reacted most sharply, pulling them in from 4/5 to 1/2. The cut is not yet universal across the market, which tells you some firms are still waiting to see whether the goals keep coming, but the direction is clear and it only points one way.
Championship Promotion odds
Best odds 4/6 with Ladbrokes, worst 1/2 with Bet Victor. Coral match Ladbrokes at the top of the market, while Paddy Power and Skybet sit in between at 4/7.

Who are the main rivals to Middlesbrough to win promotion from the Championship?
West Ham are the favourites at a best price of 3/10 with Betfair Sportsbook, with Middlesbrough second-shortest at 4/6 with Ladbrokes. Wolverhampton and Southampton complete the four priced contenders, and the gap between the top two and the rest says plenty about where the bookmakers think the real quality sits. Boro are not the favourites, but they are the side the market is moving towards, and on current form that makes sense.
West Ham – 3/10 with Betfair Sportsbook, the shortest price in the market and the side everyone else is chasing.
Middlesbrough – 4/6 with Ladbrokes, second in the betting and the selection bookmakers have been cutting.
Wolverhampton – 6/4 with William Hill, third in the betting.
Southampton – 12/5 with Ladbrokes, the longest of the four priced contenders.

Can Middlesbrough win promotion from the Championship?
Our view is that the case is a strong one, and the next few outings give Boro the platform to strengthen it. Middlesbrough host Charlton next, against a side still searching for a win in eight league attempts, before a trip to Wrexham. History is on Boro's side in the first of those fixtures too: Middlesbrough have won 4 of the previous meetings with Charlton, against two Charlton wins and no draws. West Ham still lead the betting, so this is far from done, but a team sitting top of the log with an attack firing like this one is not going away quietly. If Morris and Lankshear keep finding the net, expect the rest of the bookmakers to follow Bet Victor's lead.
